The Transcendental argument [en.wikipedia.org], which argues that logic, science, ethics, and other things we take seriously do not make sense if there is no God. Therefore, arguments against the existence of God must ultimately refute themselves if pressed with rigorous consistency.

From the wikipedia article: "Eventually we must arrive at a comprehensive law of regularity of succession that has no further explanation in the operation of deeper physical laws. It can only be established by the conscious choice of a free moral agent."
In addition to the obvious error in Aquinas' thinking, I add that just because something is unknown does not mean it is unknowable.
