by seraphblade on 2005-09-29 18:15:17Order is not the same thing as purpose. The universe is to some degree ordered, it is true. However, the Second law of thermodynamics shows that in fact the universe becomes steadily and irreversibly more chaotic and disordered all the time.
This is commensurate with a universe which is a random anomaly, a seemingly-ordered pattern sprung from chaos, and is then fading back into the chaos from which it sprung. No "intelligent design", let alone the existence of an "intelligent designer", is either evidenced or required by these things.

Actually scientist are baffled because the 2nd law is NOT working as they intended. According to the laws the Universe should be slowing dowmn, when in fact in the last several years they have found that the Universe is expanded faster than they imagined.
Also the amount of Hydrogen Gas across the Universe is perfectly even in all places which also goes against the "law" of chaos and thermodynamics.
