In the UK the statements about encouraging organic farming seem very far from reality. We have seen a large growth in the size of holding, with the smaller producers sidelined. This has led to the wide scale mono-cropping with crops grow just for subsidies. Often organic farmers are not eligable for some of the subsidies. The Common Agricultural Policy of the EU is now undergoing radical changes with emphesis on promoting good pratice rather than per-crop subsidies.
